The Long Square Project

Welcome to the 2010 Traveling Panoramic Camera Adventure...

A panorama camera was shared among 16 photographers throughout the USA and the UK and the resulting images and experiences were shared on the long square project flickr group.

Here’s the plan.

Shoot a roll of film with this camera.
After your film is processed, post your results in the pool.

After you are finished shooting your film send the camera to the next person on the list.

However-There is a little twist to this adventure.

We were not to post our 'best' picture to the flickr page until everyone had used the camera.
Posting it after everyone had a chance to use the camera. Becky will let us know when the time comes.
She'll then make a gallery for the best shots and pick a winner from the bunch. The prize will be a goodie box with a panoramic camera, an assortment of film and some other surprises.

Specs for the camera we are using:
28mm fixed two element lens
1/125 shutter f/11
13 x 36 mm panorama mask
*** Please don’t permanently alter the camera in any way.
And please leave the address list in the box with the camera.

The instructions were:

Feel free to use one of the rolls of film included in the box with the camera. If you prefer using your own film that’s okay too. But help yourself to one of the rolls and leave the remaining rolls in the box when you forward it to the next person on the list.

BTW- If you want to shoot more than one roll of your own film, say some B&W or slide stuff, please do!

New web gallery space is now online!

finally... floemedia.co.uk is peeking her head above the 'under construction' sign, after a slow, but much needed, overhaul!

a couple of new collections have been added to the images gallery, you can now actually purchase prints - yes, long overdue - and the videos are slowly being added, as the hard drive excavation continues :o)

this is an organic and ongoing update, so please check back frequently to see new work as it is being added - if you come across any glitches, please do let me know, and i'll attempt to squish those into submission.

Haphazart! Magazine now available

Finally, the magazine is complete and available to ORDER!

HAPHAZART! MAGAZINE is a collaborative book project with Christian Kinzler, Mark Sullivan and Krystina Stimakovits. It is the first of the series - each quarter a new editorial team take on the role of putting together an edition! This issue is one hundred and twenty pages, has five featured artists, four contributing writers and over thirty photographers packed between the pages of this, the very first issue!

The magazine complements the online Haphazart! Contemporary Abstracts flickr group.

Group Exhibition :: Dances with Light series

Opening night at the Past, Present and Future group exhibition at Shine Gallery Space was a huge success with well over 400 guests braving rain, wind and traffic to join the celebrations!

A selection of works from the Dances with Light series, by Photographer, Shari Baker, were commissioned by the gallery and form part of the 'Past, Present and Future' group exhibition. The five pieces included explore the theme of light and movement and respond to the newly renovated gallery space at Shine.

During the evening young performance students at Thomas Danby College, put on a series of magical twinkling vignettes to entertain the guests and add to the movement and light theme. Lyndsay Din was the in-house photographer and fluttered around capturing the evening in photographs. Some of which can be viewed on her site.

Live jazz filled the atrium and completed the evening beautifully.

Kevin Hickson also began work on a new feature for the atrium of shine, a 'wish pinata'. Guests were able to join in the making of huge willow structures, which will eventually be filled with 'future wish' slips. The culmination of Kevin's workshops with the local community will be a festive event on the 21st December - the shortest day of the year. More soon...

Two Worlds Touching

Starting a new book collaboration with Mark Sullivan.

The concept for the book is, in part, to attempt an answer to the recurring question : "how does your collaboration work?". Currently in its early stages of development, it may become a record of our interactions, our dialogue, our work, our musings. Initially, i like the working title of 'silent dialogue' as yet, our collaboration has been one of written texts and photographic images, no verbal communication. Silent dialogue, across an ocean, via flickr .. more to come!
